
Virginia Secretary of Commerce Caren DeWitt Merrick, on behalf of Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, attended the opening of the Virginia Taiwan Trade Office on September 19, 2023. The event was also attended by Wang Liangyu, Director General of the North American Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Edwin Ayers, Chief Commercial Officer of the American Institute in Taiwan Kaohsiung Branch, and the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) executives. The Virginia Taiwan Trade Office is the first economic development office of Virginia in Taiwan. Its purpose is to strengthen the business relationship between Virginia and Taiwan, including bilateral trade and investment plans. The new Trade Office in Taiwan will be the fourth international office in addition to Germany, Japan and South Korea.
Yide assisted in planning and executing the opening ceremony activities, inviting leaders from all walks of life to attend and exchange opportunities and cooperation in Taiwan-US trade, culture, etc.; it also arranged the content and release of press releases to expand the influence of the event.
